When I came to Harcum, I was broken in ways most people could not see. I carried loss, insecurity, and the constant feeling that I did not quite fit anywhere. I was not sure who I was or where I was going, but I knew I needed something different. Harcum became that turning point. I walked onto campus seeing faces I recognized and faces I had never met, and somehow both made me feel like I belonged. I learned things I had never learned before, moved at a faster academic pace than any college I had attended, and experienced new environments, new conversations, and even new meals that stretched me beyond my comfort zone. Before Harcum, I only saw myself in kitchens or under car hoods. That was the limit I placed on my own future. Harcum removed those limits. It showed me another life was possible. One where I could grow, think deeper, and believe in myself again. Because of Harcum, I kept going. Today, I am finishing my Master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling at Capella University. Looking back, I know that without Harcum, I might have stayed stuck in the car business or trapped in depression, never realizing what I was capable of becoming. I'm a proud 2017 graduate of Harcum College, the Coateville satellite branch. I graduated with an associate's degree in Leadership. Fast forward, eight years later, I still had the desire to further my education as well as be a support to my city of Coatesville. When I discovered that LTM had formed a partnership with Alvernia University, my excitement grew all the more. I jumped at the opportunity to enroll. I admit that I was very nervous about going, asynchronous but, it challenged me to balance my time. My first semester with Alvernia helped me to incorporate what I was learning into my corporate position as a Supervisor. All the anxiety I had built up was non-existent with the assistance of LTM staff, family, and friends.

After working full time in childcare for 16 years, being a wife and mother and out of school for 22 years, I decided to go back to school to get my degree at Harcum College. I had  wonderful experience. I got to grow in myself. I met my college friends and had a wonderful support group all around me. The professors and staff are wonderful and having my family by my side was more to me than anything.
